Migration Guide: Moving Your Podcast from SoundOn to Firstory

Thinking about switching to Firstory? This guide will help you set up a "301 Redirect" from SoundOn to Firstory, ensuring all your episode data and subscribers are preserved during the move.

This migration follows a 3-step process:

  1. Step 1: Transfer from SoundOn to Firstory (This guide)

  2. Step 2: Redirecting to various listening platforms

  3. Step 3: Preserving historical analytics

Step 1: Retrieve Your RSS Feed from SoundOn

  1. Log in to your SoundOn dashboard.

  2. Go to "Platform Distribution" and copy your RSS Feed URL.

Step 2: Import Your Show to Firstory

  1. Register or log in to Firstory Studio, then select "Import Show."

  2. Paste the RSS Feed URL you copied from SoundOn and click submit.

  3. Confirm that the show information is correct.

  4. Once imported, copy your new Firstory RSS Feed URL.

Step 3: Set Up the Redirection on SoundOn

This step ensures your subscribers are automatically moved to your new Firstory hosting:

  1. Contact SoundOn support or fill out their "Migration Form" to request a redirect.

  2. You can use this template:

    "Hello, my podcast name is (Your Show Name). Please help redirect my show to Firstory. My Firstory RSS Feed is: (Your Firstory RSS Feed). I have completed the migration form. Thank you!"

  3. Wait for SoundOn’s confirmation that the redirect is active.

  4. Return to Firstory Studio, go to the "Migrate to Firstory" section, and click "Check Redirection."

  5. Once verified, your migration is complete!
