What is the "Free Membership" Feature?
The Free Membership feature allows listeners to join your inner circle without any upfront cost. It’s a powerful tool for engagement—use exclusive newsletters and bonus episodes to build a relationship with your fans, naturally guiding them toward becoming paid supporters in the future.
How to Set It Up
Go to Firstory Studio > Monetization > Listener Sponsorship and enable "Subscription Plans."
Under the "Subscription" tab, locate the Free Plan setting, toggle it on, and describe your member benefits.
Once saved, the "Free Membership" option will appear on your public sponsorship page.

Q: Can existing paid members join a free membership?
A: No, paid members already have access to premium benefits.
Q: Is a credit card required for free membership?
A: No. Fans only need to provide their email address.
Q: Do fans need a Firstory account to join?
A: Not initially. However, if they wish to manage, cancel, or upgrade their membership later, they must go to "Manage Subscriptions" on the sponsorship page and register using the same email they used to join.
Q: How does a free member upgrade to a paid plan?
A: Once logged in, they simply return to your sponsorship page and select the desired paid tier to upgrade instantly.
