Podcasting has a much lower entry barrier than video. With just a smartphone and an internet connection, you can start your creative journey anywhere!
Target Audience: Creators who want to record, edit, and upload files entirely on their mobile devices.
iOS Users: GarageBand
GarageBand is a professional, free music production tool available on iPhone and iPad.
1. Recording Setup
Entry Point: Open the app and select "Audio Recorder" > "Voice."
Monitoring: Use wired headphones to avoid latency. Tap the "Monitor" icon in the bottom right to hear yourself and adjust the tone.
Recommended Tone: In the menu, select "Fun" > "Clean" for the most natural and crisp vocal quality.
2. Crucial Step: Adjust Track Length
Important: Go to the "Track View" (top menu), tap the "+" on the right, and change the section length from "8 bars" to "Automatic." If you skip this, the recording will stop after a few seconds.
3. Edit and Export
Record: Hit the red button. Turn off the metronome to keep your audio clean.
Edit: Split, delete, or trim tracks directly within the app.
Save: Tap the "▼" icon, long-press your project, and select "Share" to save the final audio to your phone.
Android Users: CapCut
Surprisingly, the video editor CapCut is one of the most efficient tools for mobile podcasting. Since Firstory supports .mp4 files, you can upload your CapCut exports directly.
New Project: Select "New Project" and use your Podcast Cover Art as the background.
Voiceover: Select "Audio" > "Voiceover" and hold the record button to start.
Editing:
Split: Cut the audio tracks.
Delete: Remove unwanted segments.
Drag: Long-press tracks to rearrange them.
Export: Click the export icon in the top right to save your file.
Uploading to Firstory
Once your file is ready, follow these steps:
Open the Firstory Web Dashboard on your mobile browser and log in.
Click "Upload Episode."
Enter the title, upload your file (.mp3 or .mp4), and write your show notes.
Click "Publish Now" or "Schedule" to go live!
