A lot of Creators and Listeners are tuning into video right now. Youtube, Spotify, Apple Podcast, you name it. Now you have a question: I am hosted with Firstory, how can i get my video podcast to Spotify?

Before you start

There are several things you need to get ready before uploading your video episodes to Spotify with Firstory:

  1. Have your Show Hosted with Firstory: So you can have your video podcast on Spotify, and have your audio episodes still uploaded to all other platforms that you choose.

  2. Get your Video Ready: You may refer to This Article for detailed specification for your video episode

  3. Prepare your Spotify for Creators Account: If you don't have a spotify for creators account yet, you may sign up and proceed with Claiming your Show

Step By Step Tutorial: How To Upload Video Podcast Episode to Spotify

  1. Start with Uploading Regular Audio Episode through Firstory

  2. Once your episode aired, you may open Spotify for Creators > open "Episodes".

  3. Proceed by clicking the three-horizontal dots (...) button and click "Upload Video"

  4. In the upload page, you may select your video file
    PS: (Make Sure Your Audio & Video File Matches)

  5. Afterwards, make sure to review the details of your episodes and adjust accordingly. Then, click "Next"

  6. Lastly, click "Publish". After your video has been successfully uploaded, please wait 15-30 minutes for the changes to reflect on Spotify's interface.

Things you need to know after uploading video episodes to Spotify

  • What’s happening behind the scenes:
    ​    In short, you’re replacing your Firstory‑hosted audio episode with a video episode that’s hosted directly on Spotify for Creators. At this time, Spotify doesn’t provide a dedicated API for Firstory to upload video on your behalf.

  • How it affects your Analytics:

    Because the video episode is hosted on Spotify for Creators, its performance data won’t appear in your Firstory Studio dashboard. To track views, engagement, and audience, please use the analytics available in Spotify for Creators.

  • The impact towards Your Ads and Monetization on Firstory:
    ​    Once an episode is replaced with a video on Spotify, it’s no longer eligible for Firstory Ads. We can’t dynamically insert ads into video episodes hosted on Spotify, so Firstory’s ad features won’t apply to those video uploads. However, for Podcast Membership, you may replace your exclusive episodes with video and it will not affect the access settings for your paying listeners.
