What is Comment Control?
Comment Control gives you full control over your show's comment feature. You can:
Enable or disable comments on your show and episodes
Show or hide the Comments tab in your navigation menu
Keep all existing comments visible even when new comments are disabled
Two Independent Settings
1. Enable Comments
This setting controls whether listeners can post new comments on your show.
When enabled: Listeners can comment on your show homepage, episodes, and open.firstory.me
When disabled: The comment form is replaced with "📝 The creator has temporarily disabled comments" message. Past comments remain visible.
2. Show Comments Tab
This setting controls whether the "Comments" tab appears in your navigation menu.
When enabled: The Comments tab is visible in the navigation on your show homepage and open.firstory.me
When disabled: The Comments tab is hidden from navigation. This does NOT affect the comment functionality on episode pages.
How to Access Comment Settings
Log in to your Firstory Studio
Go to Audience Engagement → Comments tab
You'll see two toggle switches:
Enable Comments - Controls comment functionality
Show Comments Tab - Controls navigation visibility
Common Scenarios
Scenario 1: Temporarily Disable Comments
If you're experiencing spam or want to pause comments:
Turn off Enable Comments
Keep Show Comments Tab on if you want visitors to see existing comments
Result: Visitors can see past comments but cannot post new ones.
Scenario 2: Hide Comments Completely
If you want to hide the Comments section from your show:
Turn off Enable Comments
Turn off Show Comments Tab
Result: The Comments tab is hidden from navigation, and no one can post new comments.
Scenario 3: Allow Comments on Episodes Only
If you want comments only on episode pages:
Keep Enable Comments on
Turn off Show Comments Tab
Result: The Comments tab is hidden from your show homepage, but listeners can still comment on individual episode pages.
Important Notes
Changes take effect immediately
All existing comments are preserved and remain visible (unless you hide the Comments tab)
Settings apply to your show homepage, open.firstory.me, and all episode pages
You can always re-enable comments at any time
